The chapter was represented at TechNet Europe by members of The American College of Greece, Deree student chapter. In attendance were: Emmanuel Varouchas, professor and head of department, Management Information Systems, AFCEA student club advisor; Despoina Stamatelou, student of international relations and European affairs; and Konstantinos Alexopoulos, student of information technology.

HELLENIC CHAPTER - 03/07/2017
The chapter participated in NATO-Greece Industry Day in March, which was organized by the General Directorate for Defence Investments and Armaments (GDDIA) of the Hellenic Ministry of Defence. Chapter Secretary Panayotis Pavlidis briefed the crowd on the co-operation of AFCEA International and AFCEA Europe with NATO and the European Defence Agency, and the support that can be provided to the local defense industry. Speakers from NATO international staff, NATO Communications and Information Agency, NATO Support and Procurement Agency and Allied Command Transformation informed the participants on current NATO programs and project opportunities.

HELLENIC CHAPTER - 09/16/2015
During the first regular meeting of chapter members and friends for the fall session in September, Chapter President Leonidas Mazarakis presented a special award to Honorary President Panos Mavraganis for being named a Distinguished Life Member of AFCEA International. The honorary president gave a brief overview of the history of the chapter and reminded everybody the events that have played a significant role in its development.

HELLENIC CHAPTER - 01/04/2015
In April, the chapter had its first general board meeting under its new format as a registered Hellenic association. At the meeting, chapter members discussed the activities leading to the chapter's formal registration and its activity plan and budget for 2015. The meeting concluded with elections of the new executive committee: Lt. Gen. Leonidas Mazarakis, HAF (Ret.), chapter president; Harry Athanasopoulos, vice president; Panayotis Pavlidis, secretary; Rania Georgiadou, treasurer; and George Chatzitheodosiou, member. The elected members of the chapter's board of auditors are D. Pantelatos, D. Katelouzos and A. Karoukis.

HELLENIC CHAPTER - 02/26/2013
In February, the chapter held its annual celebration of the traditional New Yearʼs cake (pita). The event was held at the Armed Forces Officers Club in Athens. Attendees included Dimitrios Elefsiniotis, deputy minister of defense; representatives of the chiefs of staff; other officers of all ranks; representatives of the defense industry and the academic community; members and guests of the chapter; as well as representatives from the Deree College AFCEA Student Club. In his speech, Gen. Leonidas Mazarakis, HAF (Ret.), chapter president, talked about the activities and events of the chapter during 2012 and set the targets for 2013. Elefsiniotis and Rear Adm. Panagiotis Mavraganis, HN (Ret.), honorary chapter president, also addressed the event. During the celebration, the top students from the Army, Navy and Air Force Communication Colleges were awarded for their excellent proficiency.

HELLENIC CHAPTER - 06/22/2012
In June, the chapter successfully organized an educational seminar on “Telecommunications and Computer Networks.” The chapter held the event in June at the facilities of the Hellenic Air Force's 128 Training Group for Communications and Electronics in Kavouri, Athens. The group's commander, Col. S. Amourgianos, HEAF, and Maj. Gen. D. Katelouzos, HEAF (Ret.), a member of the chapter's Executive Committee, opened the event. The rate of communications and information technology development has increased exponentially, and this growth led to an inevitable increase in training requirements, experts said. The event was born when the chapter declared 2012 as the “Year of Education” and set a target to get involved in this field to the maximum possible extent given the difficult economic times. HELLENIC CHAPTER - 01/24/2011
The chapter organized a one-day conference on “Electronic Monitoring Services for Identification and Control of Borders.” Grigorious Tasoulas, secretary general of public order of the Ministry of Citizen Protection, opened the event, which was held at the Armed Forces Officers Club. The conference covered three topics, which were detailed in analytical briefings presented by subject matter experts: technological developments and the requirement for convening military and civilian security electronic monitoring systems; electronic surveillance systems; and electronic identification and the related legal issues. More than 150 attendees from the three armed forces branches, the police, the coast guard, academia and industry participated in the conference and intervened with comments and remarks.

HELLENIC CHAPTER - 05/27/2010
In May, Kent R. Schneider, president and chief executive officer of AFCEA International, made a brief stop in Athens to visit the chapter while on his way to TechNet Europe. During his trip, he met with Lt. Gen. Leonidas Mazarakis, HAF (Ret.), chapter president, and chapter board members. He also stopped by the American College of Greece to meet with the president of the college and members of the AFCEA Student Club at Deree College. Schneider then hosted a dinner for the board members at the Greek Yacht Club, where he was presented with the chapter's crest. The chapter briefed him on current issues of concern and exchanged views on the future of AFCEA International and the chapter's cooperation. Finally, Schneider awarded Harry Athanasopoulos, a professor at the American College of Greece, with the AFCEA Leadership Award for his sustained contributions to the association.
