CENTRAL MARYLAND CHAPTER CHAPTER - Jan 14, 2014

Down the APT Rabbit Hole

At the chapter's Technology Over Bagels event in January, Ned Moran, senior malware researcher at FireEye, presented data collected from a recent advanced persistent threat (APT) investigation, which suggested that a Brazilian security company was engaged in targeted attack operations. Further investigation revealed that this company was in fact engaged in legitimate penetration testing against paying customers. The lessons learned from this experience is that careful and patient research is required during an investigation. The chapter thanks Sotera Defense Solutions for serving as the Technology Over Bagels Advocate for 2013!
