STEM Award Helps Science and Math Teacher

In February the chapter issued a Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Award to Bahar Cihan, a teacher at Kamisli Village Elementary and Middle School, one of the Hakkari Yuksekova County public schools. The school has about 100 students. The chapter awarded $1,000 grants to Cihan during her visit to the headquarters of the chapter in Ankara. She proudly accepted the STEM Award and said the money would assist her and the newly built school in procuring STEM-related teaching tools, goods and/or services to contribute to the education of children in grades 1 through 8. The school's principal also expressed appreciation for the donation, noting that boosting the morale of both students and instructors is equally valuable to the award itself.
