Chapter Celebrates Annual Awards Night

In May, the chapter celebrated its scientific education successes for the 2015-2016 year. Jessica Morgenstern, vice president, scientific education, served as Master of Ceremonies to award $10,000 science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) scholarships to 17 high school students and three scholarships to college students through the chapter's endowment. Nineteen teachers received up to $5,000 grants for enhancing the STEM programs in their classrooms. The chapter also endowed scholarships to three new colleges in the central Maryland region, each for $50,000. In addition, the chapter made a donation to the AFCEA International Education Foundation for $25,000. Lt. Gen. Robert M. Shea, USM (Ret.), president and CEO of AFCEA International, accepted this donation and addressed the group.
