MONTGOMERY CHAPTER CHAPTER - Dec 01, 2016

PEO Speaks on State of Business and Enterprise Systems

In December, the chapter hosted a luncheon featuring guest speaker Richard Aldridge, program executive officer (PEO) for Business and Enterprise Systems (BES), at Wynlakes Country Club in Montgomery, Alabama. Aldridge spoke to a full house of military, industry and government personnel on the "State of the BES." He discussed some reorganizations BES is going through, including the creation of a position for a director of staff, chief of operations and other efforts to move the organization toward a more Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) framework. Aldridge also talked about the need to consolidate data and use it for more condition-based maintenance. He further emphasized that 2016 was the busiest year for the Air Force since 1968, and with the budget decrease coming in 2018, it is more critical now than ever to take risks to realize all the potential of the information age. This will require a change in the risk-adverse culture of the Air Force. The strategic goals of BES will work toward making those cultural changes a reality. The chapter also conducted annual board nominations and voting for the upcoming year. All nominations were approved by the group, and the following individuals represent the chapter as of January 1: Brian Knott, president; Senior Master Sgt. Neil Stewart, USAF, vice president; Adam Vencill, Young AFCEA Advisory Council president; Charisse Stokes, director, Education Foundation; Candace Akerson, secretary; and Cheryl Brown, treasurer. The chapter is proud to welcome all new and returning officers and thanks Aldridge for donating his time to speak at the final luncheon of 2016.
