Michael Deis, director of business development at Ohio University's Russ Research Center, was the guest speaker at the chapter's March luncheon. The center is located near Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. Deis, a former director of the Air Force Research Laboratory Sensors Directorate, also serves as director of the university's Avionics Engineering Center. He discussed the launch and construction of Russ Research Center's new Aerospace Research Consortium. The consortium will spotlight new companies associated with precision navigation and timing as well as emerging engineering technologies. Russ Research Center, a 60-acre high-tech research park near Dayton, is home to some of the area's leading defense, engineering and technology firms. New buildings are being constructed on the campus to accommodate new businesses expected to move there. Corporate sponsors for the luncheon were Liona Enterprises, Segue Technologies Inc. and The MITRE Corp. The program sponsor was Gartner. Liona Enterprises has partnered with MobileIron at the Wright Brothers Institute, an Air Force Research Laboratory partner, to present a threat update on government and Defense Department mobile devices in the surrounding AFCEA and Wright-Patterson communities.
