Chapter's Education Foundation Hosts CampIT

In March, the chapter's Education Foundation and the Montgomery Area Chamber of Commerce-TechMGM hosted CampIT for over 200 eighth-grade students from 11 schools in the Montgomery area at Alabama State University in Montgomery, Alabama. CampIT featured keynote speakers from the community and industry for the morning session. In the afternoon, the students engaged in hands-on demonstrations and breakout sessions, which allowed them to learn, participate and engage in STEM and Information Technology activities. Volunteers from Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Business Enterprise Systems Division, assisted with and led many of the sessions, providing students with real-life applications for the activities. CampIT gives students a great opportunity to see how STEM is used in everyday life. It also promotes awareness of the academic programs around STEM and opportunities for students to become more involved in the Montgomery community and explore additional opportunities in STEM.
