Agile Acquisition at the Home of Acquisition

The chapter's March luncheon attendees were treated to a panel of industry experts from the Wright-Patterson Air Force Base area. The area is home to one of the largest acquisition and research organizations in the U.S. Air Force. The moderator, Bruce Miller, deputy director of small business for the Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), oversees business innovative research and technology transfer. Panelist Ryan Helbach, chief intrapreneur, for the AFRL, discussed bringing lean principles and methods to commercialize U.S. Air Force-developed technologies. An AFRL ideas pitch day was held with over 400 submissions. Panelists Meghan Sheehan, director of technology commercialization services at Wright Brothers Institute and John Nunziato, vice president, SOSSEC Inc., discussed their success with using other transaction authority (OTA) with 28 consortiums to bring cutting edge technologies to the market. Krystin Fakalata, vice president, corporate operations, Macalogic, was recognized at the luncheon for being recently chosen as a Midwest Regional Distinguished Young AFCEAN for her countless hours of chapter work. Luncheon corporate sponsors were PCI, FTI, The MITRE Corporation, and Segue Technologies Inc.
