Guest Speaker Discusses Creating a New Capability

The chapter welcomed Maj. Gen. Timothy Lunderman, USAF, Air National Guard assistant to the commander, 24th Air Force and Air Forces Cyber, Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. The luncheon was located at Lackland Air Force Base and served as a beautiful backdrop to help celebrate the Air Force's 72nd birthday. Gen. Lunderman began by thanking those who served in the Vietnam War. He went on to say that he would not be where he is today without their dedicated service. The general assists the commander on the behalf of the Air National Guard with cyberspace capabilities, aiding the combatant commander with trained and ready cyber forces which plan and conduct cyberspace operations. He has been integrally engaged with the National Guard Bureau, Department of Defense Joint Staff, United States Cyber Command, Headquarters Air Force Space Command, the National Reconnaissance Operations Center and interagency leadership. With regard to the integration of the 24th and the 25th Air Force, "We are still in the fight today, and we are here to support them," Gen. Lunderman explained. "We are not merging; we are creating a new capability that will translate to other areas." The information warfare capabilities tied with today's technology will help bring real solutions.
