Celebrating a Departing Chapter President

The chapter says a fond farewell to Col. Richard K. Brown Jr., USAF, its outgoing chapter president. Lt. Col Richard Sharpe, USAF, chapter vice president, presented Col. Brown with the AFCEA International Presidential Certification of Appreciation. Col. Brown served as chapter president from January 2019 to July 2020. During this period, he oversaw completion of two golf tournaments, three luncheon events and three chapter-awarded $500 scholarships to high school graduates headed to college in STEM programs. He initiated a monetary contribution to support the Veterans Endowment at the University of South Carolina - Sumter. This program provides monetary support to deserving veterans seeking degree programs, and the chapter is proudly engaged in yearly support to this program. His position as commander of the 20th Fighter Wing Mission Support Group helped deliver the chapter and AFCEA message to the U.S. Air Forces Central Command, U.S. Army Central and Shaw Air Force Base units, which also encouraged engagement in chapter events.
