ALAMO CHAPTER CHAPTER - Jun 16, 2020

Acquisitions Panel Features Highly Requested Guests

The chapter had the pleasure of hosting a highly requested acquisition panel that featured the following panelists: Col. Allan Abel Carreiro, USAF, senior materiel leader (SML) of the Cryptologic and Cyber Systems Division, program executive officer (PEO), Command, Control, Communications, Intelligence and Networks (C3I&N) Directorate, Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, Air Force Materiel Command; Col. Robert King, USAF, SML for the Enterprise IT and Cyber Infrastructure Division, Hanscom Air Force Base, Maine; Col. James Trachier, USAF, commander, 38th Cyberspace Engineering Installation Group, Tinker Air Force, Oklahoma; and moderator Chris Kinne of Accenture Federal Services. With the eruption of COVID-19, more and more organizations have turned to teleworking. Kinne facilitated how teleworking is affecting their respective areas. Col. Carreiro responded that there hasn't been a change in protecting the nation's secrets, and during this time where there is no relief in mission, airmen still have to ensure mission success. Operations can continue, but in this teleworking environment it can be challenging and not all work can be transferred as telework. As the mission presses forward, it's something that will continue to be addressed and will evolve. Post-COVID, Col. King foresees more flexible policies and rules allowing more people to telework. "This is a huge change in mindset of senior leaders than we have seen in the past." With a change in mindset, how will the Air Force look to deliver the same services? Col. Trachier explained that examining the paradigms of how risk is accepted will be essential. "Our priority is to preserve the force and accomplish the mission."
