Cycle 4 STEM Raises $250K

Cyclists from the chapter embarked on a three-day bike trip in July along the Rhine River in Germany to raise money and awareness for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics education programs. The chapter has been going strong for nine years, making Cycle 4 STEM Germany the longest-running annual STEM ride. This year, the 10-person team comprised active-duty military, contractors, dependents and civilians from the Kaiserslautern military community. With the help of corporate sponsorship, individual donations, and support from local businesses, the cyclists have raised over $250,000, which is directly distributed to Department of Defense Education Activity schools in the local area. In addition, Cycle 4 STEM has provided scholarships and industry certifications for graduating seniors. These events have been able to help teachers by funding grants to purchase equipment and sponsor programs. The chapter has sponsored the RaspberryPI Tournament and Skills USA competition. In cooperation with the Hercules Innovation Lab this upcoming school year, the chapter will sponsor the KMC First Robotics Club.
