Mission Ready, Digitally Driven

During the chapter's PD Luncheon, Lt. Col. Tom McMullen, deputy commander of the 7 Communication Group within the Canadian Digital Services Group, shared insights into the Defence Digital Strategy, titled "Mission Ready, Digitally Driven."

The strategy elevates digital modernization priorities, emphasizing digital sovereignty, procurement reform and closer engagement with Canadian industry.

McMullen emphasized the importance of three cornerstones of the strategy: being connected, decisive and resilient.

While challenges remain, including modernizing legacy systems and developing digital talent from within the ranks, his message was clear. Momentum is building, due in part to the creation of the Defence Investment Agency.

He emphasized that industry has a stronger opportunity to contribute than in the past, and that the strategy is designed at a high enough level to maintain momentum and provide consistency as leadership changes.
