Golf Tournament Rules

The tournament will be conducted rain or shine. In the event of thunderstorms, the Arlington Army Navy Country Club will determine whether play is delayed or suspended.

Notice to Competitors

Scramble Format: On every hole, each member of the team may hit a tee shot. The team then selects one of the tee shots from which to play. All members of the team then hit from that position. This procedure is repeated until the ball is holed. There is no limit on the number of tee shots used by any one player. In the event of ties for any tournament prize, the winner will be determined by matching cards in accordance with the USGA Rules of Golf, Appendix I.

Selected Shot: Each team member must place his/her ball within one club length of the selected shot, no nearer to the hole. If the shot selected is played from a penalty area, bunker, rough (intermediate or regular), fairway or fringe of the green, the ball must be played from within one (1) club length of the shot selected, no nearer the hole, and must remain in the penalty area, bunker, rough (intermediate or regular), fairway, or fringe of the green.

Improving Lie of Ball (Putting Green): When putting, the ball must be placed within one putter head length from the mark, no closer to the hole. Once the ball is holed out, no further strokes count. In other words, don’t putt out until all players have had a chance to make the attempted putt.

Maximum score is bogey. If your team does not make the par putt, please pick up your ball and proceed to the next hole.

Do not play from “no mow” (tall grass areas) or enter them to retrieve golf balls. If all four golf balls of a group are in a “no mow” area, take a drop outside the “no mow” area nearest the best shot – no penalty.

Course: Red/White. The Red 9 is designated as the front nine, and the White 9 is the back nine.
Holes 1 – 9 on your score card are the Red 9, and holes 10 – 18 are the White 9.

Men play from the White tees. Men 70 years old and older play from the Green tees. Women play from the Red tees.

All yardages are to the center of the green.

When proceeding from Hole #9 (Red #9) to Hole #10 (White #1), turn right and follow the cart path between the clubhouse and tennis courts. Upon finishing Hole #18 (White #9) to Hole #1 (Red #1), turn left, go through the parking lot towards the cart barn and driving range.
