The Vanguard
"Developing Dominance Through Cyber Talent"

In partnership with the Department of War (DoW) Chief Information Officer and the National Defense University, AFCEA International will host Cyber Workforce Summit 3.0—The Vanguard.

The summit brings together DoW and Service leaders, the Joint Force, academia, industry, and the cyber workforce to prepare a mission-ready, multi-domain cyber force for the next fight. Through strategic dialogue, workforce-development updates, and the National Cyber Workforce Competition, participants will examine how the Department can scale, test, and modernize the capabilities needed to operate at mission speed.

Over three days, attendees will have the opportunity to:

  • Build the digital force. Learn how the Department is modernizing the cyber workforce through skills-based hiring, Cyber Excepted Service (CES) updates, and talent-development initiatives that accelerate the identification, hiring, development, and retention of mission-ready cyber professionals.

  • Navigate the path to readiness. Receive updates on the Department Cyber Workforce Framework and its way forward, DoD 8140 qualification requirements, and implementation of the Enterprise Learning Management System (eLMS) and cyber learning modules to support workforce development and readiness.

  • Hear joint and operational perspectives. Engage with senior DoW, Service, Combatant Command, Joint Staff, academic, and industry leaders on the priorities shaping the future cyber force.

  • See the next generation compete. Watch students from U.S. Service Academies, Senior Military Colleges, and National Centers of Academic Excellence in Cybersecurity demonstrate emerging tactics, techniques, and procedures in the National Cyber Workforce Competition Championship against a live opposing force.

  • Connect across the cyber ecosystem. Share ideas and build partnerships among government, academia, and industry to strengthen the workforce that defends the homeland and enables joint operations.

Join the cyber community at the leading edge of readiness, innovation, and operational integration. The Vanguard is where the Department’s cyber workforce comes together to drive transformation.
